The recent passing of my mother-in-Law, Beckie, has me thinking. Beckie battled cancer for five years and passed away peacefully at home. We made great memories before she passed, for which I am grateful. Now, more than ever, I know that our mothers (and other “mother figures”) are important. So I recently invited my mom, Rita (an Ohio resident) to spend the weekend with me in Noble County! And now she’s an official #NobleMom!
Visit Noble County can help you make lasting memories with your mom, too! Undoubtedly, you want to give her the best gift possible. Whether you’re celebrating your mom, grandma, or another “mom”, they work hard to make lives easier and more enjoyable. So take some time to celebrate them this Mother’s Day weekend!
I recommend you start by asking yourself: Will you take her on a trip this year? Will you shower her with one-of-a-kind gifts or sweets? To help take the pressure off, I am sharing my list of gift, day trip, and treat ideas in Noble County. I hope these ideas will help make this Mother’s Day one for you and your beloved “mom” to cherish.
Beautiful Arrangements & Bouquets
This one seems too easy, but flowers are always a thoughtful gift! Find beautiful carnations, daisies, and roses at local florists.
For an extra special, interactive outing, plan a trip to A Thyme to Remember where you can design a floral arrangement in a teacup! This special workshop will occur on Friday, May 6 at 6:30 PM. Cost is $25 per arrangement. Call ahead to participate at (260) 239-3012, because space may be limited. Local florists:
Scents Make It Special
Does your mom prefer candles or perfume?
Either way, Noble County’s small businesses have you covered! There is something about scents that take us right back to a place and time. My mom is a candle lady, almost to the level of “candle addict”! But during our weekend together, she was also excited to make a personal scent at our local, all-natural perfumery.
For candles and melts, check out Murphy’s Townhouse Candles at 226 S. Park Avenue in Kendallville. Discover hand-poured soy candles, melts, and tarts. Kim and Kelly have been selling high quality, hand-poured candles and melts at low prices from their home-based business since 2017. Murphy’s also offers candle and craft workshops for small groups, including baby showers, bridal parties, birthday parties, and more! Find more information and embrace the scents by visiting their website!
The secret is out! Annie Oakley Natural Perfumery studio and factory received national recognition by making the Good Housekeeping Top 25 Factory Tours in the U.S. list this spring.
Annie Oakley’s is the real deal! Take mom to shop in person at their beautiful studio at 300 Johnson Street in Ligonier, or shop for her online. When you visit in person, you can blend your own signature fragrances! All products are essential oil-based and derived from the best quality products available worldwide. Learn more on their website.

My mom and I enjoyed a visit to WhatchamaCakes during her weekend stay. The cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins, and cupcakes were out of this world! Find more sweet treats at:
