Rome
City, Indiana is nestled along the banks of beautiful Sylvan Lake in the northern
part of Noble County and is accessed by State Road 9. Once a thriving
resort, this town of about 1,500 swells during the summer months as seasonal
residents arrive. The
Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site is situated on a tranquil lakeside
cove and her "Cabin In Wildflower Woods" set the stage for many of her books,
photographs and nature studies.
"Fun on Sylvan" includes a full day's activities and celebrates all that small
town America takes pride in. From the American Legion's chicken BBQ to ice
cream eating contests to the Patriotic Pontoon Parade, Rome City boasts authentic community spirit.

Noble County presents our first Farm Stay
B&B! Mirror Lake Bed and Breakfast, [Blog]A
Farm Stay in Amish Country, opened in September and offers guests a glimpse of
life on a working dairy farm in the heart of Amish County. The 150 acre farm
dates back to the early 1830s. The new, private “bunk house” sleeps up to 6 in a
comfortable country atmosphere with modern features such as mini-fridge,
microwave, coffee pot, TV/VCR/DVD. The bath has a claw-foot tub and shower.
Farm life goes on all around you.
In addition to milking twice a day, there are
beans to harvest, horses to groom, and kitchen and perennial gardens to
maintain. Guests can watch the horses graze or just relax and watch the sun set.
Take it all in, then after a peaceful rest, enjoy a full home-cooked breakfast.
Located near Rome City, this special get-away is just 20 minutes from
Shipshewana, and about an hour from Fort Wayne and Nappanee. Contact Kathy
