Take your appetite and discriminating palate to the Rome City Chamber’s 7th annual Chili Cook-Off Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site, 1205 Pleasant Point, Rome City. Enter your best chili or just come and test everyone else’s recipes. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Traditional Chili, Best Non-Traditional Chili, and People’s Choice. Culligan has donated bottle water for the event.
On Friday and Saturday night, come to the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site for “Owl-Oween” fun from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This annual event is suitable for all ages and about the fun of Halloween – treats, not tricks! learn about owns, bats, raccoon, snakes and other creatures of the night. Children may attend in costume and enjoy treats along the way. Please dress for the weather and bring a flashlight to guide your way. Admission is $4 per person.
